Description

Langra is one of the most distinctive and beloved mango varieties of the subcontinent, originally cultivated in Banaras (Varanasi) and now widely grown across Pakistan. The current variety belongs to Kot Addu, Khangarh, and Muzaffargarh of the Multan region. Unlike most mangoes, Langra retains its greenish-yellow skin even when fully ripe, which is one of its most recognizable features. Inside, the flesh is fiberless, lemony-yellow, and exceptionally juicy, offering a perfectly balanced sweet-tart flavor with a distinctive aromatic fragrance that mango connoisseurs deeply admire. Medium-sized and oval, Langra mangoes are typically harvested in the mid to late season, between July and August, making them a much-awaited delight of the late summer months. Beyond its rich taste, Langra is packed with essential nutrients that support overall health. It is an excellent source of antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals that strengthen immunity, improve eye health, aid digestion, promote glowing skin, and contribute to heart health. The natural sugars provide quick energy, while the dietary fiber supports gut health and may help regulate blood sugar when enjoyed in moderation. Whether eaten fresh, blended into shakes, or used in chutneys and desserts, Langra mango remains a treasured icon of South Asian summer.
